ABOUT
Layering lush harmonies over themes of self-love, 21-year-old R&B/soul artist Kaiya Nyasha uses her music as a call to action for the youth to empower themselves to rewrite their narratives. Her music is a celebration of culture, of womanhood, and of hope. The Miami native has found a balance in fusing socially conscious messages with upbeat, light-hearted grooves and catchy hooks.
Throughout Kaiya’s career, she has been able to study music in various capacities to refine her craft––as a contemporary vocalist, classical singer, songwriter, rapper, deejay, and producer.
She lends much of her success to the non-profit organization Girls Make Beats (GMB) which exposed her to the fundamentals of audio engineering, deejaying, and production at the age of 16. Furthermore, Kaiya was invited to represent GMB at the 61st annual Grammy Awards for the Recording Academy’s initiative, Women in the Mix. Kaiya says, “Attending the Grammys was a pivotal event in my budding career––to be surrounded by legends who have paved the way for artists like me was a precursor for all the success to come and all the musical movements I hope to one day pioneer”.
She was recently featured in the 2021 Nike Air Max Day campaign to amplify the voices of women in streetwear culture.
Kaiya is currently studying Music Business in Marketing at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in her efforts to cultivate her craft as a tool to send shockwaves through communities at large.
Ultimately as a creative entrepreneur, she anticipates facilitating the growth of future music moguls worldwide. To continue following her journey, you may find her on all platforms @kaiyanyasha.
